What is the difference between a safety switch and surge protector?

There seems to be confusion between a Safety Switch or RCD and a surge protector. This video has been put together to explain the differences. Both are very important safety devices. One is designed to protect humans but will not protect your electrical equipment. The other will protect your electrical equipment but will not protect humans.
