As a responsible supplier registered under the Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS), Thor ensures that every product we design, manufacture, and supply meets or exceeds all applicable Australian and New Zealand safety requirements.
This policy outlines our safety principles, compliance obligations, and the processes that underpin Thor’s reputation as a trusted and responsible brand.
1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to formalise Thor Technologies’ commitment to:
– Complying with all relevant electrical safety legislation and standards;
– Maintaining EESS registration and product certification;
– Providing safe, reliable, and compliant products to customers;
– Embedding safety and risk management across our operations, partners, and supply chain.
This policy applies to all Thor Technologies employees, contractors, suppliers, and distributors involved in the design, manufacture, importation, marketing, or sale of Thor products.
2. Compliance and Standards
Thor Technologies operates in accordance with:
Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS) – ensuring registration and compliance for in-scope electrical equipment.
AS/NZS 3820:2020 – Essential Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment.
AS/NZS 3100:2022 – Approval and Test Specification – General Requirements for Electrical Equipment.
AS/NZS 3112:2017 – Approval and Test Specification – Plugs and Socket Outlets.
AS/NZS 3105:2014 – Approval and Test Specification – Electrical portable outlet devices
AS/NZS 3122:2021 – Approval and Test Specification – Socket-outlet adaptors
AS/NZS 60335, AS/NZS 61558, AS/NZS 60950, and related standards applicable to product categories.
Relevant ACMA Mandated Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standards applicable to product categories.
Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and associated regulations.
Australian Consumer Law (ACL), ensuring consumer guarantees and product safety compliance.
Our compliance obligations extend to both Regulatory Authorities (ERAC, EESS) and independent test laboratories approved by the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).
3. Thor’s Safety Principles

3. Traceability and Labelling — Each compliant model carries the correct EESS registration number, RCM mark, and traceable batch identification.

5. User Education — We provide clear installation, operation, and maintenance instructions to help users operate safely and responsibly.
6. Rapid Incident Response — Any product safety concerns or non-compliance reports are investigated immediately, with corrective actions implemented as required.
4. Responsible Supplier Registration
Thor Technologies is a Registered Responsible Supplier under the Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS), managed by the Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC).

– Equipment Categories: Power distribution units (PDUs), surge protectors, and related electrical accessories.
Being EESS-registered ensures Thor maintains accountability for product safety and compliance throughout the lifecycle of its products.
5. Testing and Certification Process
All Thor products are:
– Tested by accredited or JAS-ANZ-approved laboratories;
– Certified to relevant AS/NZS standards;
– Registered in the EESS database with supporting documentation (Certificate of Conformity, test reports, safety files).
Certificates are maintained and renewed in line with applicable standards or when design changes occur.
6. Supplier and Manufacturing Compliance
Thor requires all manufacturing partners and suppliers to:
– Maintain verifiable testing records for components and subassemblies;
– Implement robust internal safety checks and quality assurance processes;
– Allow Thor or appointed auditors to perform regular compliance inspections.
Failure to maintain compliance may result in termination of supply agreements or removal from Thor’s approved vendor list.
7. Workplace and Occupational Safety
In addition to product safety, Thor Technologies maintains a strong focus on workplace safety and employee well-being.
We commit to:
– Providing a safe, hazard-free working environment in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems;
– Conducting regular safety audits, equipment inspections, and staff training;
– Reporting, investigating, and mitigating workplace incidents or near-misses;

8. Product Recall and Corrective Action
Thor has established a Product Recall and Incident Response Procedure in compliance with Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and EESS Recall Guidelines.
In the event of a safety concern:
– The issue will be assessed immediately;
– Regulatory authorities will be notified where required;
– Customers will be informed through direct communication and public recall notices;
– Replacement, repair, or refund actions will be implemented under the ACL.
