In September 2001, Thor Technologies was established by Nile Ausmus, Roy Stokes, and George Forster-Jones, with Willy Nelissen leading technical development. The founding team carried more than a decade of shared experience from APE, united by a vision to design products that could protect the rapidly emerging digital electronics era.

The first Thor products were the Surge Shield 8-outlet and 7-outlet boards, incorporating not only surge protection but also advanced filtration circuits. This was a visionary step at the dawn of the 2000s, when the proliferation of sensitive digital devices demanded a new level of protection against spikes, surges, and “dirty power.”
